Hatfield And The North, foi formada por ex-integrantes de outras importantes bandas de Canterbury: Richard Sinclair (Caravan), Pip Pyle (Gong), Phil Miller (Matching Mole) e Dave Stewart (Egg). Trabalhando com Jazz, Folk Inglês e Progressivo, a banda além de gravar o seu melhor álbum, fez um dos mais importantes trabalhos da "Canterbury Scene", da década de 70.
